उनीहरूले न्याय र लोकतन्त्र सबैभन्दा बढी उच्चारण गरिने, कम बुझिने र व्यवहारमा करिब नदेखिने शब्द बनाइदिए तर पनि यी मान्यताप्रति अविश्वास नै त हुर्काउन हामीले कदापि मिल्दैन। लोकतन्त्रका हरेक मूल्य, संस्था, संयन्त्र, पद्धति र प्रक्रियालाई उनीहरूले नेतातन्त्रको खेलौनामा सङ्कुचित तुल्याउन मरिमेटेर लागिपरेका छन् तर पनि लोकतन्त्र नै सिद्याउनुपर्छ भन्ने छूट हामीलाई हाम्रो संघर्षपूर्ण र सकसयुक्त इतिहासले कदापि अनुमति दिँदैन।

कठोर प्रयासबाट अफ्टेरो गरी हासिल गरेका सबै राजनीतिक स्वतन्त्रता र सामूहिक अधिकारहरूको प्रत्याभूतिलाई दिवास्वप्न मात्रै तुल्याउन नेतातन्त्रको भगीरथ प्रयास चलिरहेकै छ। तर पनि हामीलाई लोकतान्त्रिक गणतन्त्रको शरीरभरी टाँसिएर यसको प्राण खाइरहेका परजीवी नेतातन्त्रका सार्वजनिक बुख्याँचाहरुलाई सम्पूर्ण रुपमा प्रतिस्थापनको विकल्प उपलब्ध छैन। यो जत्तिको भयानक त्रासदी बाँचिरहेका हामीलाई हेर्नै मन नलाग्दा पनि हेरिरहनुपर्ने कत्रो ठूलो बाध्यता। यो बाध्यताको नाम बनेको छ हाम्रो लोकतन्त्र!

विकराल अन्यायबाट पीडितले आफ्ना पीडालाई व्यक्त गर्ने बित्तिकै उनीहरूको सातो जान्छ, हंस धर्मराउँछ र उनीहरू हठात बौलाउँछन्। व्यवस्थामाथि खतरा आइलागेको रोदन गर्न थाल्छन् र हिंस्रक बन्छन्। मानौँ व्यवस्था उनीहरूबाट चाहिँ असुरक्षित छैन! पीडितको आवाजलाई जबर्जस्ती बन्द गर्न एकाएक न्याय, लोकतन्त्र, सामाजिक व्यवस्थाको दुहाईमा चिच्याहट गर्न थाल्छन्। मानौँ उनीहरू पवित्र हुन्, कहिल्यै कुनै गल्ती नै नगर्ने ईश्वर हुन्, सत्य र न्याय उनीहरू स्वयं नै हुन्। मानौँ उनीहरूको शासनमा सुधारको लागि कुनै कमजोरी र समाधानका लागि कुनै समस्या नै छैन।

यहाँ अन्यायबाट पीडितहरूलाई समस्याको रुपमा चित्रण गरिन्छ। अन्यायको विरुद्ध न्यायको मसिना आवाज बोल्नेहरुलाई अराजक र सामाज विरोधी देखाइन्छ। यो कस्तो विडम्बना हो? उनीहरूले बोलेका लाखौँ झूटलाई सत्य मानिदिनुपर्ने, उनीहरूले सृजना गरिरहेका राजनीतिक र सामाजिक अत्याचारलाई न्याय मानिदिनुपर्ने, उनीहरूले सहजै बाँच्न नदिएर लाखौँको संख्यामा विदेशमा धपाइएका आम मानिसले उनीहरूको समर्थनमा प्रशंसा गरिदिनुपर्ने र यस्तो वाहियात व्यवस्थालाई शिरमा बोकेर हिँडिदिनुपर्ने र त्यसका घृणित पात्रहरूलाई नेता मानिदिनुपर्ने! सबैभन्दा घृणित यथार्थ के भने – उनीहरूले असङ्गतीलाई व्यवस्थाको परिभाषा थोपरेका छन् र सुधारका प्रयासमा हुने छटपटीलाई अराजकता भनी प्रगतिको बाटोमा ठूला ठूला खाडल र पर्खाल उभ्याएका छन्। पर्खालभित्रको रजाइँलाई उनीहरूले लोकतान्त्रिक गणतन्त्र भनिदिएका छन्।

हामी जताततै गन्जागोल देख्छौँ। चित्त बुझाउन यस्तो असङ्गतीलाई सङ्गतिमा हेर्न खोज्छौँ। गहिराइले थेग्न नसकी सतहमा छताछुल्ल तैरिन आउने निकृष्टता देख्छौँ, भ्रष्ट र अनैतिकहरुको बनावटी प्रतिरक्षाका घृणित कुतर्कहरु सुन्छौँ। न्याय र स्वस्थ समाजको लागि निर्मित गरिएका संस्थागत संरचनाको हरिविजोग स्थितिमा थकित सुस्केरा हाल्छौँ। सामाजिक अगुवाहरुको त्रसित र कमजोर गुनगुन नेपथ्यमा कतै सुनेर यकिन गर्छौँ अब साँच्चै यहाँ भविष्य छैन! कहिल्यै सुधार नहुने दुर्घटनाग्रस्त यथार्थबारे सञ्चार माध्यमले छाद्ने बग्रेल्ती तथ्यलाई हारेर सहन्छौँ।

आफ्नै मृत शरीरलाई टुलुटुलु हेरी छटपटाउन अभिशप्त गरुड पुराणको प्रेतजस्तै हामी हाम्रो सामूहिक राजनीतिक अस्तित्व हेर्छौँ। उफ्! घाटमा सुताइएको शरीर लोकतन्त्र, छटपटाउन अभिशप्त प्रेत नागरिक!
